Chocolate Covered Popcorn Recipe

Chocolate and popcorn is such a great pairing and there are hundreds of different variations on it. Here we give you a chocolate covered popcorn recipe that takes freshly popped popcorn and coats it with sweet milk chocolate.

Like many chocolate covered popcorn recipes, the hardest part of the recipe is melting the chocolate, and that's pretty easy! For more information on melting chocolate you can read this article.

You can also try a lot of different variations depending on your taste preferences. This chocolate covered popcorn recipe is great using dark chocolate instead of the milk chocolate, with cashews or other nuts sprinkled on top of the chocolate, with caramel sauce drizzled on top, and you can sprinkle some powdered sugar on top once they cool for a more refined look.

The process is very simple. You start by popping popcorn like you normally do. Once it's popped you melt the chocolate. Then lay the popcorn out on a cookie sheet in a single or double layer and spoon the chocolate over the top. That's all there is to this chocolate covered popcorn recipe.

The resulting chocolate covered popcorn is great!

Chocolate Covered Popcorn Ingredients

For the Chocolate Covered Popcorn

4 cups popped popcorn
3/4 cup diced milk chocolate
1-2 tablespoons heavy cream or milk, warmed
Salt, preferably kosher or sea salt

Chocolate Covered Popcorn Instructions

Lay the popped popcorn out on a cookie sheet in a single or double layer.

Next melt the milk chocolate. It is usually fastest to use the microwave or a double boiler. I typically microwave it in a plastic, microwave safe container for 30 to 45 seconds at a time, stirring in between each time. For more information on melting dark chocolate you can read this article.

Once the milk chocolate is melted, stir in the heavy cream or milk and mix until it becomes incorporated. Heat it again until the milk chocolate can be easily drizzled.

Now drizzle the melted milk chocolate over the popcorn. You could also add any nuts or other garnishes to the chocolate covered popcorn at this point. I also like to sprinkle some kosher or sea salt over the popcorn now for added flavor.

At this point you can eat the chocolate covered popcorn but for best results I like to refrigerate it for about 30 minutes until the chocolate sets.

Now you can make great chocolate covered popcorn at home!
