If you have ever made normal popcorn at home in a pot then making kettle corn will be a breeze. You simply add sugar to the pot when you add the popcorn. The sugar cooks, lightly caramelizes and coats the popcorn while it pops.

Prep time: 5 Minutes
Cooking Time: 10 Minutes
Makes: 4 Quarts
Homemade Kettle Corn Ingredients
1/4 cup oil, usually canola or vegetable 1/2 cup popcorn kernels 1/3 cup sugar 1 teaspoon salt
How to Make Kettle Corn
Place the oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add 3 kernels to the oil. Once the three kernels pop add the remaining ingredients and quickly stir together. Place a lid on top of the pot.
Shake the pot every few seconds to prevent the sugar from sticking to the pot and burning. As soon as the kettle corn is done popping pour it out into a large bowl. The sugar mixture can get very hot so be very careful when you pour it out, sugar burns are no fun at all.
Break up any large clumps with a spoon and let the kettle corn cool slightly. Taste the kettle corn for seasonings and add more salt if needed.
