As a tomato cultivar, the Viva Italia is a plum type that grows determinately. It is a hybrid of the Roma variety that is productive and compact. The plant leaves are medium sized, with a regular shape and green color. This variety is highly resistant to disease, grows vigorously and produces large yields of tomatoes.
Speckled with white and yellow flowers, the plant bears fruits that are larger than Roma tomatoes. These are red-orange to red in color, solid and meaty.
Viva Italia tomatoes are moist and flavorful with some sweetness to them. This is brought about by the higher amounts of natural sugars as well as acids found in it. This tomato variety has been labeled as one of the best tasting paste tomatoes around. Additionally it is rich in Vitamins A, B, C, iron and potassium.
